When one of the most memorable nude scenes of the year involves a middle aged, balding, overweight flasher (Observe and Report), you can easily surmise that 2009 was a year lacking in sizzle at the box office. Furthermore, of what I consider the most memorable sexy scenes in 2009, only one involved a major studio project. Whatever the reason (political or otherwise), 2009 was a weak year for sex in the cinema. The top 5: Watchmen Hands down (at least to me) the best movie sex scene in 2009 was the lovemaking session between Silk Spectre II and Nite Owl on board the Nite Owl’s ship. Malin Ackerman is stunningly beautiful in or out of her costume. The love scene is also given a surprising sadness and poignancy as it is accompanied by Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” on the soundtrack. True Blood Yes, I’m cheating a bit by including an HBO show over nearly all theatrical films. Still, almost no theatrical scene could top the moment when Anna Pacquin’s character finds herself in a graveyard, only to have her vampire lover rise nude from the ground (literally), rip open her blouse, proceed to ravish her and then finish off the session with a bite to her breast. Man! To find out more on True Blood My Bloody Valentine 3D Ok, this movie is a total sleazefest, but darned if it doesn’t have the best female nude scene of the year. Actress Betsy Rue plays a hooker targeted by the gas mask wearing, pick-axe wielding killer. However, she is no pushover and even chases the psycho into a parking lot with her gun. She is completely, gratuitously nude the whole time. The scene is memorable not only because Ms. Rue looks great, but also because it took sheer chutzpa on her part to pull off such a scene. to find out more about My Blood Valentine 3D Powder Blue In scenes long yearned for by fanboys everywhere, Jessica Biel plays a stripper who takes it (nearly) all off in two scenes. She is definitely gorgeous and her strip scenes don’t disappoint. Too bad the rest of the movie is godawful (Note: Sadly, this film was Patrick Swayze’s last movie role and he is embarrassingly bad playing a sleazy club owner with a bad haircut.) To find out more about Powder Blue Antichrist This bleak, bizarre film seems a fitting entry to this weak list, for, considering there is sex throughout the film, it is about as anti-erotic as a film can get. Case in point: the film opens with passionate lovemaking between the two leads (named, pretentiously, Man and Woman). It intercuts the lovemaking with a traumatic scene of their infant son falling to his death from a window. Sex=death=eternal guilt. Welcome to the sunny world of Lars Von Trier.
